The blind receive their sight, and
the lame walk,
the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf
hear, the dead are raised up,
and the poor have the gospel preached
to them. Matthew 11:5
Is John delirious? He knows that he was
born to Elizabeth and Zacharias in their old age to prepare the way for Christ.
He had even baptized Jesus in the Jordan but now he is in jail and sent his disciples to ask if Jesus is the
Messiah they had been promised.
Look at Jesus’ answer. He didn’t say I
have healed and preached some mighty fine sermons. That would be past tense. He
could have said it that way and added and I intend to keep on healing and
preaching but you go back and show John the evidence you have so far. No Jesus
answers in the present tense: not received, receive, will receive just simply receive.
They accepted His answer and took it back
to John. I wonder it John asked the question to introduce his disciples to
Jesus, hoping they would follow Him. How are you to follow someone if you do
not know Him? And how are you to know Him if you do not ask questions.
It says in Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the
same yesterday, and today, and forever.” So it stands to reason that if you
asked Him today if He is the Messiah His answer would be the same. We don’t
physically have Him with us but we can look at what He did when He walked this
earth and what is being done in His Name. And if healing hasn’t happened we can
know He’s working on it.
The blind receive, illnesses are
relieved, and death is deceived yesterday, today and forever. Won’t you receive
Him today?
Beautiful words! The thought of "touching the words of God" Wow!
